Mindings Founders Stuart Arnott and Ian Pleasance with presenter John Doyle in the WXHR studio

Last Wednesday Mindings creators Stuart Arnott and Ian Pleasance were guests on “Whipps Cross
Focus” with presenter John Doyle, on WXHR – Whipps Cross Hospital Radio.

WXHR was founded in 1969, and the popular station has been broadcasting to patients and staff 24 hours a day since 2004.

The station presents a great mix of music, news, sports coverage (with live commentaries from West Ham and Leyton Orient) and entertainment programmes, including the popular “Down Your Ward” featuring conversation, dedications and requests from around the hospital wards.

Being “local boys” Stuart and Ian were delighted to be invited onto the station, and they discussed how Mindings was created, and discussed some of the wider subjects of social care and digital inclusion (NB Stuart discusses these issues weekly on the “Disruptive Social Care Podcast“).

Find out more about the station on their website – and listen to some great recent features on their Listen Again page.

Here is a behind-the-scenes video of John interviewing Stuart and Ian in the WXHR studio:

Mindings discussed on SFM radio technology feature

Posted by on Sep 17, 2012 in Media

Mindings‘ Stuart Arnott was the guest on the SFMMonday Matters with Jason McCrossan” radio show last night. The interview was one of a series about technology that Jason has been featuring on his weekly show.  This week Jason wanted to explore how seniors experience technology.

Being a passionate advocate for digital inclusion, Stuart discussed how Mindings helps the technology-shy be better connected to their families by simplifying the user experience.

Among the subjects they touched upon, Stuart reminded Jason that the “older generation” aren’t scared of technology, they after all put a man on the moon, but it’s the rate of change that is the problem; he wagered that in twenty years our generation will be scouring eBay looking for old iPhones as that is the technology they’re most comfortable with; and he explained why he gets frustrated with technology that can’t be repaired!
