Here at Mindings, we don’t save up our new features to release all at once — as soon as they’re ready, we update Mindings so you can use them straight away.
We’ve been working hard on so many great, new features, that we’re now officially announcing them as version 2.5. You might already have been using some of them, but in case you’ve missed them, here are the major changes.
You can choose a selection of pictures which your Mindings User would enjoy seeing from time to time. Upload favourite photos, or choose some which have already been uploaded, and mark them as ‘Favourites’. Mindings will show a selection every day so there’s always something of interest, even when there aren’t many new photos sent by friends and family. It’s also a great way to re-use familiar pictures, such as older family photos, which can be enjoyed again.
You can create a calendar for your Mindings User, to help them keep up to date with visits, appointments, ‘to do’ tasks and other events. Now you can show reminders before an event, a few minutes or hours beforehand.
If you use our ‘GotIt!’ feature, Mindings will then stop showing pictures and messages, until the User taps the screen or keyboard to acknowledge the reminder. You’ll receive an email or text to let you know the reminder has been seen.
You can link your own online calendar to Mindings, so that the User’s calendar also includes your schedule. Mindings can show reminders for all of these events, including those from linked calendars.
We’ve also made it easier to link Google Calendars, so now you can quickly and simply let your Mindings User keep up to date with several people’s calendars.
Send to several users at once
If you’re authorised to send messages to more than one Mindings User, you can now send the same picture or message to some – or all – of them at once.
New display fonts are now available, including the ‘Tiresias’ font designed in conjunction with the Royal National Institute of Blind People. This font was specifically created for users with visual impairments.
